Restoration of the Gate of Europe

Giving a symbol back to its community.

Restoration of the Gate of Europe, Mimmo Paladino’s monument to the memory of migrants, standing over the sea at the southern tip of the island. A delicate conservation project carried out in coordination with the artist.

The work consolidated and protected the surfaces exposed to salt and wind. It ended with the ceremony returning the monument to the town.
